Don't feel like reading or writing?

Sound like you? Well that's how I'm feeling, I have new release to finish by the end of the year and several books on the go that I'm reading and my brain just doesn't want to come to the table. It's nice to take a break when you're in a reading slump, maybe you pick up a new tv series or do something you don't usually have time to do because that book is waiting for you. What I'm frustrated about is I want to write but the moment I sit down the words don't come, I'm tired or distracted. Oh, I'm Shannon by the way, I write Romantasy. I have a complete trilogy out, a spicy little MM novella in the same world but can be read as a standalone and I'm also the owner of The Indie Realm in Subiaco, Perth. Yeah, I'm a busy author, reader, indie bookstore owner and mum, maybe that's why it's a struggle to write or read lately.

Want to know what I'm currently working on? It took me awhile to break away from the series I'd been writing for almost four years and start something new. I wanted to write some standalones before dipping my toe back into a series, the thought was exciting but also nerve wracking, suddenly I was doubting myself as a storyteller, I've been writing the same world and characters for four years, could I write something new? The answer... YES, after some self-doubt I pushed through and started with 3 WIPs at first, I wasn't sure which one I was going to focus on more, I don't usually hop between stories but since the writing bug was there, I was dipping in and out until one grabbed my attention more. I was focused on a paranormal interconnected series for a while, but I couldn't stop thinking about an idea I had for this FMC, she would silently sit there stealing my attention away from my WIPs until a full story arc come to me, and I found the perfect genre for this story. Ever read an Omegaverse? No, well this might be the perfect time to start! I am 64,000 words into Knotted Silence, a dark Omegaverse. It's pushing my skills as an author, and I am loving the journey; these characters are bringing me along with their story and it's a wild one. Let's hope I can push through and finish this stunning new book by the end of 2025.
