Bushland Castle Productions has just opened the gates for 2 writing Scroll competitions. A Speculative fiction challenge that focusses on the Catalyst of change and a Memoir challenge that focusses on the heritage that built your foundation. The team are excited to work through the submissions and the Council of Quills have been assembled.

What is the Catalyst Scroll?

The Catalyst scroll is an opportunity to look at the catalyst of change. This competition has a focus on the wide range of opportunities speculative fiction has to offer. Between the Sci-fi, Fantasy, Horror and Magical realism concepts, the catalyst itself could be anything. The short narrative provides a focus on the unique and varied interpretations of the moment.

What sparked the change, what was the initial impact of the change, what emerges from the shadows when a catalyst of change comes in to the light. The perspective from the writer in these scenarios can engender a number of emotive responses that aligns with the different genres. It is time to zoom in and perceive that catalyst you have in your mind.

What is the Heritage Scroll?

For people that do not with to consider the world of fiction, Heritage scroll is a chance to write a memoir of creative non-fiction. A chance to look at what the foundation is of your character. How your heritage has helped shape your personality. A small moment in time that involves the impact of your heritage in your daily life.

Why Run two competitions at once?

This is but the beginning. 2026 is the first annual Bushland Pages competition and the team wanted to ensure that it was sustainable to manage two challenges at once. There is a plan to expand the challenge toward different creatives in the future.
