NOVELLA Series Information

Were you living in Australia in the 1970s?

Whether you were raising kids, building a life, driving a truck, teaching, protesting, migrating, or simply navigating the changing times—we want to hear your story.

Bushland Castle Productions is inviting people aged 65 to 80 to submit story ideas for a special collection of memoir novellas exploring life in Australia during the 1970s. You don’t need to be a professional writer. If you have a story to tell, we’d love to help you tell it.

What kind of stories?

We are looking for:

  • Memoir (your true experience)

  • Biographical memoir (someone close to you)

  • Creative nonfiction (based on real events)

  • True stories that shaped your life or community

The stories can be funny, touching, reflective, adventurous—or all of the above. You might think your story isn’t “special” enough, but everyday experiences are often the most powerful.

Word Length

Stories will be published in novella form:
30,000 to 45,000 words

Support and Community

Selected writers will be welcomed into an online memoir community for encouragement, guidance, and peer connection.

One lucky submission will receive a full writing support package, where we’ll help you from story idea to completed book.

All selected authors will retain rights and receive 50% of all royalties from eBook, print, and audiobook sales.

How to Submit

You do not need to have your story written yet.
We are asking for a short description of your story idea, and a little bit about yourself. That’s it.
